At the end of April, Donna Kay and I spent two nights at The Sanctuary at Red Rock, the homeplace of Ted and Rehana Hollingsworth, one time members of Old River Baptist Church.
Ted works with Texas Parks and Wildlife in Austin. Rehana is a librarian in the Red Rock School District.
They told me that the Lord led them to build two cabins back in the woods on their property and make them available as a place for pastors and their wives or families at no charge.
When Bro. Danny Biddy connected me with the Hollingsworths, I wanted to see the Sanctuary for myself and find out if it was an offer we wanted to encourage our pastors to consider.
We really enjoyed our stay and recommend the Sanctuary to you. Any pastor wanting to stay there can let me know and I will help them make arrangements.
Red Rock is about three hours west of the TRBA office. Although there are not many businesses in Red Rock, it is 15 minutes away from both Bastrop and Lockhart where you can find restaurants and shopping.
The cabins are very nice and beautifully furnished. They have a refrigerator and microwave.
The outside looks like a cabin, but the inside is anything but rustic. The cabin has heat and air conditioning and a lovely bathroom.
You need to be aware that there is no internet, no cable, and no phone service in the cabin. Cell phone service kicks in a mile or two down the road.
You can enjoy the scenery from the back deck, or venture off onto their land by following the trails leading into the woods.
Ted and Rehana are a lovely Christian couple and you will enjoy getting to know them during your visit. But you will have plenty of privacy in your cabin out in the woods down the path from their home.
So, pastors, if you need a “sanctuary” where you and your wife can get away for a few days, let me know and I will help connect you with the Hollingsworths and the Sanctuary at Red Rock.
Rested and refreshed,
