One of the exciting things about being on mission is experiencing unexpected blessings from God along the way. The blessings are diverse and come in various ways. When they come, you know that they are from the Lord. Let me share with you some recent blessings.
When Mitch Wilson from the Baptist General Convention of Texas led us in an evangelism training event last year, he asked if there was anything else we needed. I mentioned a couple of things and added that “the big ask would be an evangelistic block party trailer.”
I didn’t really expect Mitch to consider it, but he said, “I’ll work on that.” Months went by and Mitch left his position to start a church. I checked with BGCT to see if our request was still under consideration.
Joshua del Risco, the new evangelism leader, followed up and we received our trailer in August. Praise the Lord!
Another blessing came in the tremendous response to our Men Alive Outdoor Expo as attendance was more than double last year’s and several trusted Christ. We are working to improve the event each year. This time we had more cook-off teams, more churches and ministries with exhibitor tables, and an archery shoot. And we had a fire engine.
Next year we are praying the Lord will provide us some “outdoor interest” exhibitors and more cook-off teams. We’ll also consider expanding the competitions. It has been suggested that we have an archery contest for kids in which we provide the equipment. And someone suggested a casting contest.
Another blessing came when Barbara Alford stepped up to take leadership of the First Responders Appreciation Breakfast. Her passion and local ties resulted in broad participation from the community, considerably strengthening the event.
And Line Camp Cowboy Church can tell you a thing or two about unexpected blessings from God. What was once a dream and then a small Bible study in a home is now a full-fledged church with a growing congregation reaching new people for Christ week after week. They now have a piece of land where they will soon build their first arena.
Looking for God’s blessings,
