Our annual meeting at Old River Baptist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 27, will be a chance for us to celebrate all that the Lord is doing in our churches and consider how He might use us in the year ahead. Please be sure that your church elects as many messengers as you are allowed (see the article on page 1). Messenger or not, please join us that evening!
Many things are on my mind as I write this column. Let me share with you some items that are unrelated but important.
Our Men Alive Outdoor Expo, Nov. 14 at TVE is a great opportunity for men in our churches to bring men who are not in our churches. Contact Scott Tidwell to see how your church can get involved.
Did you know that your TRBA Food Pantry helps about 90 families each month? We depend on churches to sign up to provide food for the pantry. If you want to participate, contact Theresa Adair to get involved.
During August, I preached a four-week True Treasure series at First Devers, culminating in a Miracle Treasure Day. The Lord enabled the people to give a record offering on that day. I would be glad to bring the emphasis to any of our churches.
In December we will graduate our first Pastor Essentials class. Now is the time to pray about whom you will “nominate” for next year’s class — men whom you think may be called by God.
TRBA partners with San Jacinto Baptist Association to provide an annual tax seminar for churches and ministers. The event will be Thursday, Oct. 22, at their office in Baytown. The 9 a.m. to noon session focuses on ministers. The 1:30-4:30 p.m. session focuses on churches. Lunch is provided.
We’re going to need a lot of home-made cookies in December to take to the jail. Details coming next month, but get ready.
Thankful to serve with you,
