During our Apr. 12 Executive Board meeting at Trinity Baptist in Dayton, we will vote on a recommended five-year partnership with Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rochester, Minn.  We printed the proposed covenant in last month’s Newsplash and I hope you have taken time to read and pray about the partnership so you will be ready to vote.  If you need a copy, let us know and we will get one to you.

There will be a July 9-16 mission trip to help Emmanuel Baptist with their Sports Challenge VBS.  They are expecting a big crowd for this outreach event and need our help.  It will also be an opportunity for us to begin learning about our partners and building relationships with them.
We need 10-12 people for this trip.  If you feel the Lord leading you to be part of this team, please contact Tim Gruver, partnership director, immediately.
If you do not feel led to go, you can still participate by praying and by giving so that others may go.  Your gift can help lower the price of the trip so that others may go.
To give toward the trip, send your donation to TRBA and mark it “Minnesota Partnership.”

Calling out the called
A highlight of each week for me is our Monday evening Pastor Essentials class for men called to ministry.
During my last pastorate we saw 50 come forward saying that God was calling them to ministry.  Many of those are serving across the nation and around the world today.
One of those, Wes Robertson, served many years as a youth minister in North Texas and has just been called as pastor of First Baptist, Blaire, Okla.  His call to ministry began in 1995 during our church’s youth choir mission trip to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rochester, Minn.  That’s the same church we are going to in July.  How’s that for a “divine coincidence”?

Something old, something new
On Mar. 6 Donna Kay and I attended Line Camp Cowboy Church on Harland Strother’s first Sunday as new pastor.
Then we joined Central Daisetta for their 85th anniversary Homecoming service.  Leslie Gaines, pastor, was there, but the preacher of the day was Cory Elder, staff member of Providence Community Church in Atascocita and grandson of Janet Hundley, member of Central Daisetta.
Cory grew up in Hull, was called to ministry here and has served as youth minister of both First Daisetta and North Main Baptist.
The service was followed by a tremendous pot luck lunch.  That’s my plate in the photo.
It was a joy to be able to worship with our newest and one of our oldest congregations on the same day.  We have 41 churches and one mission.  Each is unique and each is necessary.  May the Lord give us many more to reach the more than 70,000 people in our area.

Pastors and Wives
Donna Kay and I are looking forward to seeing our pastors and their wives at the April 1 (no fooling!) Pastors and Wives Banquet.  Great food (Mike’s Barbecue), great speaker (Jimmy Draper), great music (Donna Kay), great gifts and prizes.  Please RSVP today!

Loving serving the Lord with you,
David Williams
